LocationThe Petronas Twin Towers are the highest skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur. In fact, The Twin Towers
were the tallest buildings in the world from the year 1998 to 2004 until the Taipei 101
came along. The base of the Towers is the Suria KLCC. This 1,500,000 sq ft shopping haven is
the place where you can shop for luxury goods and designer labels. In the KLCC are also
an art gallery, the Aquaria KLCC (the underwater world), a philharmonic theater and the
Petrosains Center. To find the Petronas Twin Towers, you just need to get to KLCC. OverviewThe Petronas Twin Towers stands tall at 88 floors high. One major attraction of the
Towers is the Twin Towers Skybridge between the two towers at the 41st and 42nd floor.
The Skybridge has also made a mark in the record books for being the highest 2-storey
bridge in the world. The unique fact about this bridge is that it is not attached to
the main structure but instead, it is designed to slide in and out of the towers to
prevent any breakage. It also functions to provide some support to the structure of
the Towers when winds are strong. The Skybridge is by far the most anticipated feature of the Towers as the view from
the bridge is simply breath-taking. The admission to the bridge is free of charge but
visitors are required to get a pass which is issued on a limited number each day. There
is no surprise if you see a long queue as early as 7am in the morning just to get the
pass. Other attraction at the Towers involves spending a lot of money because Suria KLCC
has a wide range of goods from all over the world. You can shop still you drop or you
can shop till your legs say stop. A piece of advice, do not wear heels. Shopping at
Suria KLCC may cause you some muscle aches. Other than the myriads of shops selling
luxury goods, Suria KLCC restaurants are also plentiful. You can choose from high end
restaurants to the food court there. If all the shopping and eating is just too much to handle, you can make way to the KLCC
Park which spans to an area of 17 acres. The KLCC Park is complete with jogging and
walking paths, wading pools, children's playground and also a fountain with light show.
There are much more places to visit in the Suria KLCC as well as its surrounding. Do not
waste the chance to explore this exciting area because there is just so much happening
at the same time. Hotels in KL have ample rooms to cater to visitors. If you would
like to stay in the city center, there are also many hotels in Kuala Lumpur itself. TransportYou can get to the Petronas Twin Towers either by foot or by taxi. The Towers are
located between Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Ampang, You can walk to the Towers if you
have opted to stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel or The Ascott. However, if you did
not stay nearby, the cheaper means of transportation will be via the LRT. All you
need to do is to get on to any Putra LRT line and stop at the KLCC station. |
